The Bradford manufacturing sector is bucking the trend in terms of growth – and this is particularly evident in job creation. With Bradford seeing some 4,000 new jobs between 2016 and 2017, an increase of 18 per cent, this is massive growth compared with the UK manufacturing sector that saw overall job creation growth of just 3 per cent. Manufacturing represents some 13 per cent of the city’s workforce, higher than Yorkshire (11.5 per cent) and the UK (8.2 per cent), according to the Office for National Statistics Business Register and Employment Survey.

Melrose are at the very heartbeat of the regions’ regeneration. Investing in IT, fulfilment processes, recycling, upcycling, new manufacturing technologies, plus the integration of the business into one physical location, Melrose are fully committed to the establishment of Bradford as a Northern Powerhouse. As an agile, responsive SME who is socially minded with strong eco credentials, we are expanding our base of UK retailers and e-commerce companies to include international customers.

Helping to inspire the next generation regarding textiles manufacturing, Melrose have fully engaged with Bradford Chamber of Commerce and local schools as part of Bradford Manufacturing Week. The feedback from the schools involved was incredibly positive with pupils feeling enthused about the potential of the manufacturing sector.

We are proud to be an integral part of the new fabric of Bradford.
